Simple Start - accomplishments

Thank you for taking an interest in this project.

Since this is just beginning, so far I can only post those accomplishments I've directly contributed to:

• Thousands of hours of volunteer work with local youth organizations
• Ongoing donations to the local Children's Hospital (albeit small ones: $218.00 in 2008)
• Hundreds of hours of research into options for dealing with climate change

On the climate change front, I hope to find support from both those who believe that global warming is a valid concern, and those who fall into the skeptics camp.

I've worked diligently to determine viable means of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in a sensible, safe, and sustainable fashion.  I believe that we can tackle carbon dioxide emissions on a scale large enough to effect positive change, and combat global warming.  The first project to be tackled is the construction of a scalable prototype that leverages the research and experimentation that's already been done on the matter.  When scaled up, the goal is to have a suitable solution for reducing atmospheric CO2 levels to a point where we are actively offsetting our emissions.

As an independent effort, I hope that those who are concerned about global warming will see the benefit to taking action now.  Perhaps regulatory changes will produce the results you hope to see over time...what happens in the interim, though?  I'd rather start tackling the problem immediately in a sensible way.

For those who are global warming skeptics -- I hope to gain your support too...I'm simply quietly going about trying to offset what we produce, in an unassuming fashion.  If I gain enough support to complete the project (by enough people using "A Simple Start" as their homepage), then you could wind up with a win-win situation...the global warming camp will have a significant offset to human CO2 emissions -- so you may hear less hoopla on the matter, and you might even wind up with the evidence you'd hoped for ("See, the climate is still doing XYZ, even with the offsets you've created.")

I've tried to make it as easy as possible to lend your support.  Whether you're a 'believer', a skeptic, or undecided, simply start your browsing from "A Simple Start".

If this initiative gains a large enough following, it is my aim for this to support various other worthy causes after our first success, focusing on:

• environment
• youth
• education
• poverty

I will post the specifics of what you've helped to accomplish here, as we gain steam.  I will post noteworthy new accomplishments relating to this project on the homepage when they occur.
